How do I track the bus?

This article will explain how to track the bus and also the reasons why the tracking may not be available.

How to track the bus if you are the Account Holder

  1. Followers will receive an email 40 minutes prior to the trip start time with a tracking link included.
  2. The vehicle tracking becomes available when the driver starts the trip in the driver app. 
  3. Selecting the link will open a live map which shows your bus's current location in real time, so you will know exactly where your ride is and when it will arrive.

How to track the bus if you are a follower 

  1. Log into Zeelo via your app or web browser (if you are using your computer).
  2. The vehicle tracking becomes available when the driver starts the trip in the driver app. As soon as it's available, you will see a Track Vehicle option next to the trip in the app or web browser.
  3. Tapping "Track vehicle" will open a live map which shows your bus's current location in real time, so you will know exactly where your ride is and when it will arrive.

Why might you not be able to track the bus

With live tracking, both the account holder and account followers can see the bus location in real time. This helps parents and guardians know when the bus will reach their child’s stop.
You may occasionally notice that tracking looks inaccurate, for example:

  • The vehicle may appear in the wrong location
  • The tracking button may be disabled
  • The vehicle location might not load when you open the link

Why might tracking not be appearing as expected?

1. The driver hasn't started the trip in the driver app

Drivers must start the trip when they leave the depot, so tracking availability depends on their distance from the first stop. If the driver hasn’t started the trip 30 minutes before the first pickup, our team is alerted and will contact the driver or operator to resolve it.

2. The driver is driving through an area of low signal

If the driver passes through an area with poor reception, tracking may pause temporarily. It will resume automatically once their device reconnects.

Are you an account holder or an account follower?

Remember, only the account holder can see live tracking in the Zeelo app. Followers must use the link in their email notification to view tracking on the website.

If you’re the account holder and can’t see tracking:

  • Make sure you’re using the latest version of the Zeelo app
  • Remember that tracking is only available while the trip is active or after it has completed

If tracking becomes unavailable, rest assured our team is already investigating and coordinating with the operator, so no action is required from you.
