Managing Travel for Split Families
This article will help you set up your Zeelo account to support a split family arrangement (parents residing in separate households)
Overview
If your child travels from different addresses (for example, if parents or guardians live separately), there are a couple of ways you can manage their Zeelo travel.
Choosing the option that works best for your family.
Option 1: One Parent Manages Everything
One parent or guardian creates a Zeelo account and purchases one of the child's travel passes for 1x parent/guardian, and then contacts the Customer Care team to have the additional pass required.
The other parent or guardian can be added as a Follower on the account. Followers can:
- Track the vehicle in real time.
- Receive journey notifications.
Please note that Followers cannot:
- Purchase travel passes.
- Make or change bookings.
- Manage the account.
This option works well when one parent is responsible for organising the child's travel.
Tip: More information around followers and notifications can be located via thisarticle.
Option 2: Each Parent Has Their Own Account
If both parents or guardians would like to manage their own travel arrangements, each can create their own Zeelo account.
Each parent can then:
- Purchase the travel pass they need by using a 50% promo code provided by the Customer Care team.
- Make and manage their own bookings.
- Manage their own payments.
This option gives both parents full control over their own travel arrangements.

For option 2, the parents can also be added to each other's accounts as followers if they wish to track all trips and receive notifications. This article will guide you on how to manage followers
Important: Coordinate Your Bookings
Whichever option you choose, it's important that parents or guardians coordinate bookings.
Your child should not have multiple bookings for different routes or journeys that take place at the same time or on the same travel day unless they are genuinely required.
Overlapping bookings can lead to incorrect journey notifications and may cause confusion about which vehicle your child is expected to travel on.
If you're managing travel across two separate accounts, we recommend checking with each other before making bookings to help avoid any overlaps.
